Aligarh: A 33-year-old man was arrested for allegedly publishing private images of a woman on social media, Police said on Saturday.. They identified the suspect as Rajesh Singh Suman, a native of Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh. As per police’s statement, a woman lodged a complaint at the Dwarka South Police Station alleging that Suman was stalking, blackmailing and threatening her. According to a senior police official, the women said she met the accused through a matrimonial website, met him a few times, and afterwards exchanged her private images with him.
However, their marriage was called off, and the accused began blackmailing and threatening the complainant, claiming that he would post the images on social media platforms and share them with others, according to the officer. According to authorities, the woman claimed that he created false Facebook and Instagram accounts in her name and began putting her photos on them.
The offender was apprehended from Aligarh, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Shankar Choudhary, and his phone was also taken. Suman had previously been detained in a similar case at the Welcome Police Station in northeast Delhi, he added. Suman allegedly confessed to police that he had committed a number of such offences involving several women, and that his mobile phone data was being used to investigate.
