MEERUT: In a tragic event, a labourer killed his stepdaughter, who was mentally challenged, and then blamed a contractor.
Both Devendra Kumar and his assistant were taken into custody. Devendra allegedly took his stepdaughter to a farm on Saturday night and shot her there.
He then reported to the police that the contractor, one Kalu, and two unidentified individuals had murdered the girl and escaped.
The Police took the critically injured minor victim to the hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
In response to Devendra's accusation, a case was filed against three people, namely Kalu and two other unnamed individuals -- and an investigation was initiated started.
Police circle officer Amit Rai said, the investigation showed that Devendra's neighbour Rajendra Kumar sought to implicate Kalu in order to take over the farm that was being managed by the latter. Devendra had previously expressed his desire to get rid of the mentally ill female to Rajendra.
The Circle officer added that Rajendra planned a plot and promised Devendra Rs 10 lakh in exchange for framing a local contractor named Kalu. Both defendants have now been detained and imprisoned.
