Lucknow: In the ongoing voting for 27 local authority seats of the Legislative Council (MLC elections) in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, state CM Yogi Adityanath exercised his franchise as an MLA in his constituency Gorakhpur. After the polling began at 8 am, Yogi went to the polling station located in the Gorakhpur Municipal Corporation and cast his vote. It may be mentioned that in the recently concluded assembly elections, Yogi has been elected as an MLA from the Gorakhpur Sadar's seat.
In the elections to the seats to be elected by the local authorities of the Legislative Council, in addition to the members of the Lok Sabha and the Legislative Assembly, the elected representatives of all the authorities, including gram panchayats, block and municipal corporations, cast their votes. After the voting, CM Yogi greeted the people on the occasion of 'Mahashtami' and said that on the auspicious day of today, voting is taking place in the local authority seats of the Legislative Council across the state. Out of the 36 seats going to polls, BJP candidates have already been elected unopposed in nine seats.
CM Yogi said that out of the 27 seats going to the polls, I have also come to cast my vote as a voter in the Gorakhpur Maharajganj seat. I am accompanied by former Union Minister Shiv Pratap Shukla ji, MP Ravi Kishan, Mayor Sitaram Jaiswal, MLA from Gorakhpur Rural constituency Vipin Singh and other public representatives to cast their votes.
