Lucknow: Police have registered a case against nine people for offering Namaz on the roof of a house in Ghaziabad district, following the guidelines of social distancing amid lockdown implemented across the country to prevent infection of the coronavirus. According to the information, Sahibabad Police has registered a case against 9 people in the case of offering Namaz by collecting on the roof of a house in Shaheed Nagar.

On March 31 last month, the video of Namaz on the terrace went viral. The named case has been registered after checking the veracity of the viral video. It is notable that earlier during the lock-down, a cleric was taken into custody by the police after a video went viral on the roof of a house in JJ Colony of Sector-16, Noida.

In the video, some people were seen reciting Namaz on the terrace. During investigation, the police came to know that the video is of JJ Colony of Sector-16 of Noida. After this, Noida Police immediately took action and registered a case against 12 people for violating Section-144 and lockdown. Police later arrested Maulvi, who offered prayers in this regard.
