Lucknow: Yogi Adityanath's police have seized the anonymous properties of Haji Iqbal alias Bala, former MLC of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). Former MLC Haji Iqbal had taken 50 anonymous properties in the name of his servant Naseem, whose present value is around Rs 21 crore. Saharanpur Police has taken this action under 14(1) Gangster Act. At the same time, the district's SSP Akash Tomar has told that this campaign against the mafia will continue. Not only this, Iqbal's Glocal University can also come in the grip of police action.
According to the SSP, the police had identified these anonymous properties of Haji Iqbal in Behat area, including 600 bighas of land. Not only this, mining mafia Haji Iqbal had made his special servant Nasim's son Abdul Gaffar alias Ghafoor, a resident of Mirzapur, the owner of his anonymous property worth crores of rupees. He owns three sugar mills. Haji Iqbal has appointed Naseem as director of sugar mills in Lakhimpur Kheri, Gorakhpur and Sitapur. The police have already arrested Nasim and put him in jail.
For almost two years, continuous action is being taken about the illegally acquired properties of Haji Iqbal and his associates. Haji Iqbal is also known as the mining mafia of Saharanpur and his properties worth crores of rupees are being monitored by the police as well as other investigating agencies. Haji Iqbal had bought the closed sugar mills of UP by making all the mask companies. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has so far attached properties worth Rs 1,097 crore of Haji Iqbal. Several of Haji Iqbal's close aides and associates have already been arrested by the police and other investigating agencies.
