VARANASI:  After Kanpur and Lucknow, Varanasi will soon have its third international cricket stadium in Uttar Pradesh.

It is anticipated that development on the same would begin in May or June of this year. The officials said, the land would be given to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) by the end of the month.

In place of the contract, the UPCA will give the UP government Rs. 10 lakh annually. Then it will construct its own facilities (on this property).

For the international cricket facility, the state government has purchased a 31-acre tract of land in the Rajatalab neighbourhood.

Over 31 acres of land, the international cricket complex will be constructed. The Rajatalab tehsil of the Varanasi district's Ganjari hamlet has received this designation from the state of Uttar Pradesh.

The Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium in Lucknow and Green Park in Kanpur are the other two such venues in the state.

The UPCA director, Yudhvir Singh, stated that construction on the stadium will likely begin in May or June 2024 and be finished by year's end.

The divisional commissioner confirmed Shah and Shukla's visit and stated that BCCI and UPCA representatives had several rounds of discussions over the cricket stadium's development with district administration representatives. The land will now be given to the UPCA in the final week of this month after a Rs 10 lakh lease charge has been paid. Following that, the BCCI would entrust its construction company with the task of building the cricket stadium. In response to a query on the availability of hotel accommodations in the area for the international cricket matches, Sharma stated, "The stadium would be built in Varanasi's Rajatalab area. Wide roadways leading to the (planned) stadium may be found in this location, which is ringed by Ring Road.

In Varanasi, there is only one five-star hotel. New hotels are soon to be built, while some existing hotels are expanding. People in Kashi will be able to watch cricket matches in the stadium starting in 2025, according to UPCA director Yudhvir Singh.
