LUCKNOW: Through its platform, 'Mine Mitra,' the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has raised Rs 400 crore from the mining industry. According to an official spokesman, the amount was obtained by issuing transit passes through the portal's Mineral Management Services.

"Since 2017, the Mineral Management Services have issued 2,16,74,654 transit passes under EMM-11, 9,22,931 under E-Farm C, and 38,87,026 under ISTP. Since July 2020, 506 lessees and 2154 brick kilns have received paid via the internet "he said.

The state government created Mine Mitra to increase transparency in the mining industry, prevent illicit operations, and deliver accountable e-services to ordinary citizens, farmers, lessees, and transporters.  In order to provide transparency to the industry and enhance the state's revenue from mining, the portal also intends to end monopolies in the mining industry, encourage lawful mining, and create a level playing field for new businesses.

It was created in collaboration with the Directorate of Geology and Mining and now offers various services, including online mineral management for lessees, stockists, and transporters, citizen and farmer services, the Integrated Mining Surveillance System, and the e-commerce platform Mineral Mart for consumers and suppliers.

Since July 2020, the state government has disposed of 1,155 stock licence applications and issued 1,279 permits for agricultural land with mineral deposits, 435 permits for minerals on private land, 9,697 permits for mining on common soil, and 1,031 permits for buildings where minerals are discovered during construction.
