Tata Altroz, Indian automaker's latest hatchback for India is nearing its launch, at least what we are to assume given the recent developments. The upcoming car from Tata, which will rival the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20, and Ford Figo, was recently teased by the automaker via its social media handles. And now, our sources tell us that the vehicle has been spotted putting itself through its paces on the Indian streets, that too bereft of a camouflage. All of this is leading us to believe that the Altroz could be launched sooner than we thought. But before we get any confirmation on its arrival to India, here is what all we know about the Tata Altroz.

Tata Altroz Engine Options Tata Altroz will likely borrow powertrain from the Nexon, albeit in slightly lower state of tune to extract more fuel economy. The petrol engine will be the 1.2-litre unit while the diesel powertrain will be the 1.5-litre turbocharged Revotorq engine. Both these engines will be mated to manual gearbox, but the petrol engine could also be coupled with an AMT transmission. Power figures are not known to us, but it should on par with its rivals.

Tata Altroz Exterior Tata Altroz was first unveiled to the public as a concept at the 2018 Autp Expo. After that, the Altroz made its appearance at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, where Tata showcased the production spec version of the car and gave us a clear look at car. On the styling front, the Altroz is the second car in Tata's line-up, after Harrier, to make use of Impact 2.0 design language. At the front, the Altroz gets large swept-back headlamps, large fog lamps, and black grille with 'Humanity Line' under it. Along the side, the Altroz has a shoulder line that rises along the rear and could reduce the outside visibility area for the rear passengers. Flared up wheel arches and creases on the doors do make the Altroz look muscular from the side. And at the rear, the tail gate has a distinctive kink with large horizontally placed wrap around tail lights and may remind many of the Harrier.

Tata Altroz Interior On the inside, Altroz borrows various design cues from the Nexon and even the Harrier. The layout of the dashboard is more on the lines of that on the Nexon and gets a similar floating touchscreen infotainment. However, the interior of the Altroz is likely to make use of black and dark grey colour scheme with chrome accents for inside door handles. The instrument cluster on the Altroz is likely to get the unit from Harrier, which has an analogue counter for spped and a digital screen for tachometer and other readouts. However, there is a possibility that this system could be made available on the top-end trim of the Altroz. The Altroz will also have rear aircon vents but without independent controls.

Tata Altroz Prices There has been no hinting at the prices, but given how aggressively Tata has priced the Nexon and Harrier, we expect Altroz to be priced in a similar fashion. So, the upcoming hatchback is likely to be priced in the vicinity of to its rivals like Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Hyundai i20. In fact, it and might just undercut some of the competitors by a decent margin.
