UPSC recommends 4119 candidates for govt jobs this year

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) recommended as many as 4,119 candidates for various central government employments during 2021-22, the lowest in a decade,  Personnel Ministry data made public in Lok Sabha today, July 20.

Jitendra Singh, the Union Minister of State for Personnel, responded in writing, "The Union Public Service Commission conducts its examinations as per the programme of examinations (calendar) year notified by the Commission well in advance for a calendar year."

In 2021–22, 4,119 candidates were suggested for the 5,153 positions that were advertised, according to the statistics. In contrast to the 4,997 and 5,913 announced positions, a total of 4,214 and 5,230 candidates, respectively, were recommended in 2020–21 and 2019–20.

In a similar vein, it said that 4,399 candidates were recommended for government employment during 2018–19, as opposed to 5,207 advertised openings.

According to the data, 6,294 candidates were suggested for government posts during 2017–18, compared to 5,735 during 2016–17, 6,866 during 2015–16, 8,272 during 2014–15, 8,852 during 2013–14, and 5,705 during 2012–13.
