US afraid of violation of biological weapons norms in Ukraine: Russian Ambassador

Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov stated that the United States is frightened of confirmation of the facts of a violation of the convention prohibiting the use of biological weapons in Ukraine.

Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland has stated that the US is attempting to prevent Russian soldiers from obtaining research materials from Ukrainian biomedical laboratories. Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland said this.

Ukraine has biological research facilities. We're worried that Russian troops may try to seize possession of them, so we're working with the Ukrainians to figure out how to keep any of these scientific materials out of Russian hands," she said to RIA

."Statement by a State Department official indicates that the United States is concerned that germs held at these sites will get into the hands of Russian experts." The violation of the Convention on the Prohibition of Biological and Toxin Weapons by Ukraine and the United States will be confirmed in this case," Antonov said.

The Russian Armed Forces "exposed the facts of an emergency cleansing by the Kiev authorities of evidence of the military biological programme" during the special operation, he said.
