US and UAE partner in $100 billion clean energy project

Washington: The US and UAE on Tuesday announced a $100 billion clean energy partnership, according to the White House.

By 2035, 100 gigawatts of clean energy will be distributed globally thanks to the Partnership to Accelerate Clean Energy, according to a statement by White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre.

To develop nuclear technology as well as manage harmful emissions such as carbon and methane and decarbonize the transportation and industrial sectors.

Both these countries will also invest in these areas. The money will also be used to support "emerging economies whose clean development is both essential and essential to the global climate effort," the statement said.

The statement continued, "PACE also reflects our unwavering commitment to working closely with partners and allies to accelerate the transition to clean energy and to deliver the climate action that our shared future requires."

The announcement was made, days before the UN COP27 climate summit to be held in Egypt.

 COP28 will be held in 2023 in the United Arab Emirates, an important oil producer. According to the United Nations, fossil fuels are the main cause of climate change, producing 75% of the world's greenhouse gas emissions.
