Champion gymnast Kurt Thomas has passed away. He was the first male gymnast in America to win a gold medal in a championship. He was 64 years old. According to reports, on May 24, last month, a stroke in his brain was ruptured. He was undergoing treatment at the hospital but could not be saved.

Ian Chappell said this while suggesting India

The former champion gymnast's wife said at the demise, "I lost my best friend and my partner for the last 24 years. I will always be proud to be his wife." Thomas won gold in floor exercises at the World Championship played in Strasbourg, France in 1978 after participating in the 1976 Montreal Olympics. In this way Thomas became the first American male gymnast to win gold at the World Gymnast Championship.
