Washington DC: Corona cases continue to rise in the United States. Despite a ray of hope in the form of recoveries as well as vaccines, the worst-hit nation is on the brink of reaching the grim milestone of 5,00,000 corona related deaths.

The US has reported the maximum number of fatalities in the world due to corona. in Meet the Press at NBC, Anthony Fauci, the chief medical advisor said, "It's terrible. It is historic. We haven't seen anything even close to this for well over a hundred years, since the 1918 pandemic of influenza." He further added, "It's something that is stunning when you look at the numbers, almost unbelievable, but it's true."

The US president Biden administration is covering 1.7 million vaccines per day to achieve the target of 100 million vaccinations within the first 100 days of his presidency.  According to the Johns Hopkins University tracking centre, the death toll in the US stood at 4.98 lakh. 

Meanwhile, the total number of global coronavirus cases has topped 111.3 million, while the deaths have surged to more than 2.46 million.
