The pair of experienced Indian tennis player Rohan Bopanna and his Canadian partner Denis Shapovalov made it to the US Open men's doubles second round. The Indian-Canadian duo reached the second round with a victory over direct sets. Bopanna and Shapovalov defeated American players Ernesto Escobedo and Noa Rubin 6–2, 6–4 in the first round of the Grandslam on Friday.
The competition lasted for one hour 22 minutes. The Indo-Canadian duo will face Kevin Kreitz and Andreas Mies in the upcoming round. Bopanna is the only Indian in the tournament after Sumit Nagal and Divij Sharan are out. Being the only Indian, his responsibilities increase further.
Sumit Nagal was defeated in the Indian round by Dominic Theme of Austria available for the second seed in direct sets, while Divij Sharan and his Serbian partner Nikola Cassic were eliminated by eighth pair Nikola Mektić and Wesley Koolhof in the opening round of the men's doubles. With this, there are a lot of expectations from this pair, and now it will be very interesting to see what will this pair do.
