Sumit Nagal of the country ended a 7-year drought, defeating Bradley Clann of the US in the first round of the US Open. Thus, after 2013, 23-year-old Sumit became the first Indian player to win the main draw of a Grand Slam. This Haryana player reached the second round of a Grand Slam for the first time in his career.
