Washington: In a new move aimed at applying more pressure on Tehran, the United States on Wednesday imposed sanctions on a procurement network it claimed was supporting Iran's drone and military programmes. Targeted companies and suppliers were located in China, Iran, and other countries.

In a statement, the US Treasury Department said sanctions had been placed on Iran's Pardazan System chief Namad Arman (PASNA), who was already the target of US sanctions, as well as the front companies and suppliers for the organisation in Iran, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and China, which Washington claimed had made it possible for PASNA to acquire goods and technology.
