WASHINGTON – According to leading infectious disease expert  Dr. Anthony Fauci, the "full blown" pandemic phase of Covid-19 is almost finished in the United States. Fauci said, the virus will soon be more controllable in the country due to a mix of immunizations, therapies, and prior infection.

As a result, he stated that he expects all pandemic-related restrictions, including the mandatory need of wearing masks, to be lifted in the coming months.However, he warned that if breakouts are identified in the community, local health officials may temporarily reintroduce measures.

According to the report, the US President's top advisor also sketched a scenario in which local health authorities, rather than the Joe Biden administration, would lead the response to the epidemic.

"As we exit the full-blown pandemic phase of Covid-19, which we are unquestionably exiting," Fauci was reported as stating, "these decisions will increasingly be made on a local level rather than centrally decided or required."

"More people will make their own decisions about how they wish to cope with the infection," he added.
