New Delhi: Taking action on a tip-off, Delhi Police on Sunday night arrested five people on charges of cow slaughter from Shahdara area. Police have disclosed that this gang had a habit of stealing cows roaming on the streets from different places and used to kill them for selling beef. The police have now formed teams to nab the cow mass buyers.
Taking action on a specific information, a team of special staff laid a trap in Geeta Colony police station area to nab the accused and spotted a speeding car, the Delhi Police said. While being caught on Pusta Road, both the groups of accused and police officers got into a fight, due to which the sub-inspector of the special staff got hurt in the right, but the police showed courage and caught five miscreants.
The names of the arrested accused are Chand alias Arshad, Naseem alias Ayan, Arkam, Anas and Ahmed Gufran, police said. At present, the police is interrogating all the accused. Police said that during interrogation, the accused have revealed that they have committed similar crimes in the areas of Yamunapar area, Ghazipur, Mayur Vihar, Anand Vihar and North-East Delhi. He said that he used to sell meat of a cow for around Rs 20,000.
