Lucknow: In Uttar Pradesh, continuous rain and lightning have disrupted normal life at several places. In Uttar Pradesh, 35 people have so far lost their lives due to lightning during rain. About 13 others were also reported injured in the lightning strike late Sunday evening. The maximum number of deaths in the incidents of lightning has been reported in Kanpur and Fatahpur districts. The Bundelkhand areas are also on the high number of deaths due to lightning.

According to official reports, 7-7 people have died in Kanpur and Fatehpur. A youth was also reportedly killed in Kanpur countryside. In Jhansi in Bundelkhand, 5, Jalaun, 4, Hamirpur has been confirmed dead. Two persons died in Ghazipur and 1 in Jaunpur and one in Pratapgarh in East Zone. In Chitrakoot also 1 person has lost his life.

Three people were killed in Deoria, Ambedkarnagar and Kushinagar due to snake bites. UP CM Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over the loss of lives in the state and announced a compensation of Rs 4 lakh to the family of each victim to the concerned district magistrates. CM Yogi has issued instructions to the authorities to ensure that the injured get adequate treatment and there is no negligence in the relief work.
