Lucknow: A Muslim woman in Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh has found it overwhelming to support Chief Minister Yogi and vote for the BJP. As punishment for which, the woman's husband has sent her a divorce notice through his lawyer. At the same time, the woman has also lodged a complaint with the police, making serious allegations against her husband and in-laws. The UP Police has registered a case on the basis of the complaint of the victim woman and arrested the accused husband Nadeem.
According to media reports, the victim complained to CM Yogi via Twitter, soon after which the head of a Hindu organisation from Delhi tweeted to the Moradabad police officials appealing to them to get justice for the victim. Now, Sadar Kotwali police have registered a complaint of the divorce victim and are taking action in the matter. The victim has said in her complaint that whenever I was asked to divorce me, I used to say that Yogi Ji is with me. I support him and I also voted for Yogiji. My sister-in-law was very angry about that too. Due to the same resentment, the divorce notice has been received today. I want justice, I had tweeted in which Pramod Tiwari helped me a lot.
According to the report, the divorce victim has said that "My name is Sana Iram. I got married to Nadeem on December 7, 2019. Everything went well for six months after the marriage, after which her sister-in-law's behaviour deteriorated. I was being beaten up. The sister-in-law and Nandoi started torturing me. My sister-in-law's name is Hadija Begum, she used to give me divorce threats. The sister-in-law said I will get you divorced from my brother. She would also taunt me in eating and drinking, saying I will bear the expenses of the whole house, as I say you will do same.''
The victim said that when she complained about it to her husband, he would ask her to tolerate it. Superintendent of Police City Akhilesh Bhadauria said that a case was registered against police station Kotwali in which it was alleged by the woman that her in-laws were harassing her. She also said that her husband had divorced her because of her voting for a particular party. A case was registered in it. The accused Nadeem has been arrested. Now, the matter is under consideration. However, in this whole matter, the question arises whether, in a democratic country, a woman from a minority community does not even have the right to vote of her own free will.
