Lucknow: The Maharajganj district of Uttar Pradesh a priest who lived in a temple and another priest were both brutally murdered. The two's blood-soaked remains were discovered in the temple compound. The double homicide occurred near the Indo-Nepal border at Mahdeia, a border police post. Where a 68-year-old female priest from Nepal used to remain and perform prayers at the 25-year-old Karan Devi temple. In the temple, Ramratan Mishra, a 23-year-old priest, also did puja. He lived in the village of Rhamdeia.

Kalawati Devi, a 68-year-old Nepalese lady from Dhakdhaiya Chenpurwa, had served as a priest at the temple for the previous 25 years, according to residents. After getting information of the duo's murder, District Superintendent of Police Pradeep Gupta also raced to the scene. A forensic team and a dog squad were also dispatched to the scene to assist with the investigation.

The locals are being questioned by the police about the event. However, the exact reason for the murder has yet to be determined. Both remains were apprehended by police and sent to a morgue for an autopsy. Police have opened a case and are conducting an investigation. The locals are saddened at the deaths of both priests.
