Lucknow: Sharab's drunk Kalyugi son has tarnished the relationship between mother and son. The case pertains to Bhaktapur village under the Aurai police station area of Bhadohi district of Uttar Pradesh. When Mahadev Sonkar, who was beating his wife and child, was stopped by the mother from doing so, he poured petrol and burnt the mother alive. On Tuesday, 60-year-old Princess Devi succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment. The Aurai police are investigating the case.  

Mahadev, the 35-year-old son of Kallu Sonkar, a resident of the said village, is addicted to alcohol. On Monday afternoon, he came home drunk. During this time, he had an argument with his wife about something. Enraged, he started beating his wife and son. Hearing his screams, his mother, Rajkumari Devi, rushed to the rescue. The accused became so angry that he took out the petrol kept in the compartment in the house and put it on the mother. Not only this, he took out the matchstick from his pocket and burnt his mother alive. People and family members in the vicinity somehow doused the fire and took the woman to a private hospital for treatment. Where the condition was serious, the doctors referred them elsewhere.

The woman died while undergoing treatment at Kabir Chaura Hospital in Varanasi on Tuesday morning. At the same time, Mahajan's condition was also critical due to consumption of alcohol mixed with toxic substances and he was admitted to a private hospital in Mirzapur. Where on Tuesday, seeing the situation as serious, the doctors referred elsewhere. The youth is undergoing treatment at a private hospital at Raja Talab in the Varanasi district. The incident shocked the entire village. Aurai Police is investigating the matter.
