Lucknow: Abdul Jameel, who retired from a railway job in Fatehpur, Uttar Pradesh, will now be known as Shravan Kumar. Abdul renounced Islam on Thursday and converted to Hinduism. At the Hanuman Temple at Patel Nagar in the city, he took initiation from the legislation amidst the presence of acharyas and chanting of mantras. During this time, he said that from the beginning, his faith has been in Sanatan Dharma. His ancestors were also Rajputs. However, Abdul also had to face opposition from his relatives for this decision.

All India Hindu Mahasabha Provincial General Secretary Manoj Trivedi informed that 65-year-old Abdul Jameel served as chief reservation supervisor in the railways in Fatehpur. Now he has retired. They are natives of Hathras, Sadabad. Currently, he lives in Deviganj in the city. He expressed his intention to accept Sanatan Dharma, so Acharya Pandit Ram Lala Mishra gave him Diksha with the puja recitation at the Hanuman temple. Now his name is Shravan Kumar. Abdul Jameel said he had three daughters and a son. The family strongly opposed the adoption of Hinduism but inspired by Sanatan Dharma, he accepted Hinduism.

Jameel said that our ancestors were Rajputs. My father, Abdul Hamid Baig, was converted to Islam by some people by luring him to land property and marry a beautiful woman of his religion, etc. Since then, the family members have been following the Muslim religion. But I have always had allegiance to Sanatan dharma. I have been living my living according to Hindu customs for the last 10 years. Now there is satisfaction from returning home.
