Agra: Son-in-law suspected of murder by family after woman strangled to death

Agra: A case of strangulation of a woman in Shastripuram area of Thana Sikandra in Agra district of Uttar Pradesh has come to light. The family has suspected the deceased's son-in-law of murder, police have taken him into custody and are interrogating him. Police said, Superintendent of Police City Rohan P Botre rushed to the spot after receiving information about the incident on Wednesday night.

SP City said the body of Rekha Agarwal (48), who lives in kanshiram awas yojana, was found lying on the bed in the room. He was strangled to death with a dupatta. The family members suspected son-in-law Vicky of murder. He said Rekha Agarwal has three daughters and all three are married. Younger daughter Abha Agarwal had a love marriage with Vicky alias Vinay last year but was moved by her husband's actions and started living with her mother.

According to a police complaint, Vicky thought his mother-in-law provoked Abha against him. Vicky had come home several times and made a fuss about it. He said Agarwal was alone at home on the day of the incident. When their eldest daughter came home on Wednesday evening, she saw her mother's body lying on the bed. SP City said people nearby revealed that Vicky was seen roaming around the house on Wednesday morning. Police have taken him into custody and are interrogating him.
