Azamgarh: The Durga Puja pandal set up in Uchhuwan village under Azamgarh district of Uttar Pradesh was rocked when Ansar Ahmed alias Mintu of the same village entered the devotees with a gun in his hand and threatened to remove the statue. According to media reports, the Durga Puja Committee lodged a complaint with the Tarwa police station in the case. Police have registered an FIR on the complaint and arrested Ansar Ahmed. Gun has also been recovered from Ansar. Azamgarh SSP Sudhir Kumar Singh confirmed the arrest.

According to the information received, the local Durga Puja Samiti has organized Durga Puja on Navratri at Uchhua Bazar under the Tarwa police station area. The committee is headed by Vimalesh Maurya. According to the report, Ansar Ahmed son of Maqbool Ahmed, a resident of the same market, along with his colleagues, came to Durga puja pandal waving a gun. He slapped the man in the pandal putting a gun on his chest and asked, "How dare you build Durga puja pandals?"

 

In view of the seriousness of the case, the DIG of the Azamgarh area had also ordered the Azamgarh police to take prompt action. The video of the incident has also gone viral on social media. When people in the vicinity started gathering because of the actions of the accused Ansar, he left, waving his gun. The accused Ansar was booked and arrested and sent to jail by the police.
