Bareilly: A case of maulvi raping a madrasa student and later aborting her has come to light from the Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh. According to media reports, a student from Beheri in Bareilly had gone to study at a madrasa in the Shishgarh police station area 4 years ago. In the same madrasa, there was also her classmate, Ubaish Hafiz, who later became a cleric and started training in the same madrasa.
According to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Bareilly, maulvi Ubesh Hafiz fell in love with the student after some time. It is alleged that in the meantime, the maulvi raped the student several times by cheating on nikah. Whenever the student talked about nikah, maulvi Ubaish Hafiz avoided asking for some more time to wait. After some time the student became pregnant, the accused cleric pressured her to get an abortion.
Meanwhile, when the victim along with her family reached the maulvi's house, they were driven away threatening to kill her. In the case, the concerned police station in-charge Shishgarh said that a case under sections 356, 376, 313, 504 and 506 has been registered against the madrasa teacher accused of the victim's complaint. The accused has been absconding since the case was registered. Efforts are on to nab him.
