Car of pilgrims going to Kedarnath falls into deep gorge, four killed

Shahjahanpur: Four of the five pilgrims who took a car from Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh to Kedarnath were killed in a major road accident while a fifth person is said to be seriously injured. Superintendent of Police, Nagar Dinesh Tripathi said that all of them had left Gonda on Friday morning for Kedarnath.

Meanwhile, on the way, the car collided with a pillar near Bareilly Bend on the National Highway and fell into a deep gorge uncontrollably. He said, the team immediately rushed to the spot and pulled out the people in the car as soon as the police received the information. Tripathi said that Durgesh Kumar (36), Neeraj Tiwari (35), Vikas (28) and Umesh (30) have died in the accident.

He said Mr. Prakash Tiwari was seriously injured. He has been sent to Lucknow for treatment. All the pilgrims are reported to be residents of Gonda district. Police have taken the bodies and sent them for post mortem. The police have also informed the family members of the deceased, who are in a bad condition.
