Lucknow: A family in Diha village under Karchana in Prayagraj was worshipping the dead daughter by placing the body in the house hoping for her to be alive. The condition was such that the body started smelling, so on Tuesday evening, the neighbours came to know about it. After being informed by the neighbours, the police reached the spot and found that the members of this family had given up food in the wake of tantra-mantra and superstition. They are only drinking Gangajal. According to neighbours, the daughter died five days ago. However, there is no clear information on how the death took place.

The case pertains to the family of Abhayraj Yadav of this village. It is being told that due to the actions and superstitions of the family members, Abhayaraj's youngest daughter, Anitha (18), has lost her life. Neighbours said that the actions of the family seemed strange for a month as the family had been living in the dark for about a month. On Tuesday, when the Karchana police reached there, it was found that the health of all the members of the family had deteriorated. They got sick because of skipping food. When the police asked for an inquiry, the family members protested and said that their daughter would be alive.

Abhayraj Yadav, a resident of Deha village in Karchana, was survived by his wife Vimla, elder daughter Meera (35), Rekha (33), Reenu (28), Binu (26), three sons Aryan (25), Man Singh (23), Gyan Singh (21) and daughter Antima (19). Binu is married. It is being told that a few days ago, she came back from in-laws. It was only after she came from her in-laws that the mental condition of the family members deteriorated and all got stuck in superstition. She did not give food to her parents, brothers and sisters and used to torture them. After the death of Antima, Abhayraj prevented her from worshipping the body, so he was taken hostage in the house itself.
