Farrukhabad: A case of forced conversion of a woman after marriage in Farrukhabad district of Uttar Pradesh has come to light. The UP police registered an FIR in the case on Saturday (August 7, 2021) and then arrested the accused. However, Kotwali police have denied conversion. As soon as they came to know about the incident, activists of several Hindu organizations gathered at the police post and demanded action. When the police raided the house of the accused, he was not found there. After which his brother was taken into custody and questioned.

The woman had expressed her anguish to Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) district minister Dinesh Singh Tomar and Hindu Jagran Manch district collector Subodh Mishra. The woman told them that she got married in 2004, followed by two daughters. The husband was mentally ill, so she started working in a hospital. A young man named Zahid was working with the pseudo-Hindu name Ravi. The young man grew closer to the woman, trapped her in his trap, and then married her. The economic condition of the woman was also not correct. It is alleged that in 2015 Zahid took the woman to a Mazar in Kayamganj where she was forcibly converted. The woman has also accused the accused of educating Kalama and Darul Sharif.

The woman alleged that the accused also grabbed Rs 1 lakh she received after the death of her father. On June 24, 2021, the accused also broke a fixed deposit (FD) of Rs. 50,000 deposited in the name of his daughter and snatched the money. The accused now wants to divorce the victim. Hindu organizations informed the local Kotwal about it. Police have registered a case of extortion and assault against the accused.
