Lakhimpur violence: Family of deceased farmers to get 45-45 lakh compensation, while one member to get govt job

Lucknow: The entire UP is currently a political arena since the violence erupted in Lakhimpur Kheri. Opposition leaders want to go to Lakhimpur and meet the farmers, but the administration is strict. SP president Akhilesh Yadav had sat on a dharna on the road in Lucknow after which he was taken into custody after being stopped from going to Lakhimpur. Priyanka Gandhi was earlier taken into custody in Sitapur. Four farmers, a journalist and 3 BJP workers, were killed in violence during a farmers' protest in Lakhimpur Kheri on Sunday.

This is followed by an agreement between farmers and the government in Lakhimpur Kheri today. In this, the government has announced Rs 45-45 lakh to all the deceased farmers. 10 lakh each to the injured. The government has said that there will be a judicial inquiry into the whole matter, along with 1 family member being given a government job. Earlier, Bharatiya Kisan Union (Bhakiu) leader Rakesh Tikait has demanded the dismissal of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra and murder against his son in connection with the violence in Tikonia in Lakhimpur Kheri district.

Talking to reporters on Monday morning, Rakesh Tikait said that he demands the government to dismiss Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra and register a case of murder against Mishra's son Ashish for allegedly killing farmers by driving a vehicle on them. At the same time, Tikait had also demanded the Government to provide one crore rupees with each as ex-gratia to the next of kin of the farmers killed in the incident and government jobs to the dependents.
