Hapur: Nine people were killed in a major road accident in Hapur district of UP late Sunday night. The incident took place near Sadiqpur village under Hafizpur police station area. Here, a speeding unknown vehicle hit the Mahindra pickup. The collision left people on the pickup injured on the road screaming.

Locals rushed to their homes to hear the screams of the injured. Most of the victims include children. More than 15 people were also injured, including about 9 people referred to Meerut. All these people are said to be residents of Salepur Kotla, a village under Thana Dhaulana area. They were all returning to their homes by attending a wedding ceremony in the family's garden of Hapud.

Seeing so many injured people on the road, the villagers were shocked. The villagers also called SHOs and SPs to report the incident. But the officers did not pick up the phone as the bell rang. The injured people on the street were tormented. The villagers rushed the injured to the hospital with mutual assistance.
