Lucknow: A fire broke out in a house at Bhandaria Tola in Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh around 5.30 pm on Saturday. A large part of the house was damaged with a loud explosion shortly after. When someone's boundary fell due to the explosion, someone's room collapsed. A house next door has also been damaged. Five persons including the woman were injured in the accident. All were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

According to reports, Mushtaq, a resident of Bhandaria Tola Pahi Mohalla, had been illegally making and selling crackers in his house for many years. The entire family was making crackers as it was Deepawali. A fire broke out suddenly in a pile of ammo kept in the house on Saturday evening. Shortly thereafter, a massive explosion took place and a large part of the house collapsed. However, CO Madiahun said that crackers were not being made here. Instead, crackers were purchased and kept on behalf of the licensed shopkeeper for sale on the occasion of Diwali. People nearby rushed to the spot after hearing the explosion and pulled out the family members buried in the debris. All the five injured including the woman were taken to CHC where all were referred to the district hospital after first aid. The injured have been identified as Mushtaq, Naseem, Asad, Anshu and Gudiya. The doll and Mushtaq are seriously injured.

Police said, the licence for firecrackers remains till March 31, 2024, which was earlier in the name of Imtiaz's father Babu. After which his Ammi stayed in the name of Anwari. After his death in 2017, a licence has been issued in the name of Imtiaz on March 31, 2017. Police said, the licence is to sell crackers but is not allowed to be manufactured. Its capacity has been decided 250kg. There is a joint family of five brothers, a total of 30-35 people in their family.
