Monsoon reached Kerala, UP have to wait for 20 more days

Lucknow: The South West monsoon has been knocked off the Kerala coast on Saturday after a projected delay of one week. Rime rains have started in Kerala since morning as the monsoon has come. However, the UP will still have to wait for about 20 days for the monsoon rain. According to the Metrological department, there is a prospect of reaching the monsoon in the last week of June in other parts of the state including Lucknow.

The Meteorological Department Director General Mritunjay Mahapatra has said that the monsoon is expected to reach the Kerala Coast on 8th of June, which is the first monsoon rainfall recorded in the coastal areas of Kerala. The department had forecast the arrival of South West Monsoon last month on June 6 on the Kerala coast, but the delay in becoming a low-pressure area of the air delayed the arrival of monsoon by two days.

Moderate to heavy rain is predicted in Kerala for the next 2-3 days. Geo. Secretary, Ministry of Science, Madhavan Rajeevan also tweeted about monsoon knocks in Kerala. He has informed that Kerala is likely to have an average of heavy rainfall for the next 2 to 3 days.
