Lucknow: Protests started on Friday in Lucknow on the lines of Shaheen Bagh in Delhi to protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) continued on Saturday. Muslim women have gathered at the clock tower to protest against CAA and NRC. The protesting women stayed here overnight. These women also have placards opposing CAA and NRC. From 3 o'clock on Friday afternoon, Muslim women have been sitting on dharna with their children in protest against CAA and NRC.

The women shouted slogans against the government throughout the night in fog and cold. Although the number of protesting women remained low at night, the crowd started gathering once again in the morning. In the morning at the clock tower, the women had breakfast of biscuits and tea. The protesting women took the oath of the constitution and said that the central government wants to create a rift in Hindu-Muslim unity by not including Muslims in CAA. Four five-year-old children are also seated in the dharna, who hold anti-CAA and NRC placards in their hands.

Women say that by implementing the National Citizenship Register (NRC), the central government wants to put the poor once again in queue like demonetisation. This law has been brought to hurt the sentiments of Muslims.
