Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh's Firozabad police on Sunday (June 27, 2021) arrested three persons for raping and conversion of a 15-year-old girl religion. The victim is a resident of Gujarat. Police have also arrested the accused and recovered the girl. According to media reports, Salim from Ramgarh police station area works in a factory in Bharuch in Gujarat. The victim's father had a canteen near the factory where he used to come. He brought the father and daughter to Firozabad on June 6 and kept both of them at his house on the pretext of treatment.

The girl disappeared two days later. The father returned to Gujarat after receiving no news of her and reported the matter to the police. He then returned to Firozabad and informed the police about the incident. Police then took action and arrested 21-year-old Salim, his father Abdul Ghaffar and his brother-in-law Rahman and recovered the minor. Action has been taken against the trio under sections including uttar pradesh conversion law. Along with his father and brother-in-law, he converted the minor girl to Islam. She was named Begum.

SSP Ashok Kumar said, 'The accused Salim works as a labourer in Bharuch and was a regular customer of the victim's father's canteen. It was during this time that he was identified with the girl. Salim lied to the girl and brought her to firozabad his relative's place. Here, along with his father Abdul Ghaffar and brother-in-law, he pressured the girl to convert to Islam and performed marriage' Based on the complaint of the girl's father, three accused have been arrested and sent to jail.
