Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh's Shahjahanpur police have achieved great success in the drive against illegal drug trafficking. Police have seized hashish worth 1.80 crore rupees in the international market. Police have also arrested smuggler Hamid Ansari and sent him to jail. According to a press note issued by Shahjahanpur police, the arrest was made in the morning hours on October 15, 2021.

In the ongoing drive against drug prevention and drug traffickers in the district, Tilhar police had received information about Hamid, who was accused by the informer. On information, the police cordoned off and nabbed Hamid with 900 grams of hashish. The hashish recovered from the arrested Hamid is said to be of 'high quality.' Hamid has been sent behind bars under the 8/17 NDPS Act under FIR No. 810/2021. The name of the father of the accused Hamid Ansari is Itwari, a resident of Mohalla Nazarpur, Thana Tilhar district Shahjahanpur.

Hamid Ansari, who was accused in a police interrogation, said charas is smuggled from Nepal. He himself has confessed to buying hashish from Bisalpur in Pilibhit, Uttar Pradesh. He was buying hashish from there at the time of his arrest. Hamid said he used to make small charas dolls under the guise of his grocery store and sell it at high prices.
