Prayagraj: A police team that arrived at Mariyadih in Dhumangganj in Kumbhnagari Prayagraj got attacked on Saturday.  The miscreants rescued the wanted accused in the Gokshi case from police custody. He then escaped with his teammates. Seven policemen are said to be injured in the attack. They were taken to Colwyn Hospital for treatment.

After the incident was reported, the force of several police stations continued to press for the search for the attackers till late night. The SP Crime has reported that Mariadih resident Nuran was wanted on the charge of Gokshi. She was reported to be in her home on Saturday evening. The police team, led by Bamrauli Outpost Incharge, pressed and arrested him.

As soon as the police took him along, hundreds of people gathered and surrounded the police team. A large number of women were also among them. Before the police did anything, they were attacked with sticks and brick-stones. The policemen retreated after watching the brick-and-mortar walk. After which, some youths in the crowd forcibly rescued Nuran from police custody and then fled.
