Lucknow: A case of gang rape of a Dalit girl and pressure to convert has come to light in Uttar Pradesh's Gonda district. The accused have been identified as Javed, Bahadur, Mahmood and Ibrar. The police have registered an FIR on the complaint of the victim's father. The victim's family alleges that they were also threatened and uttered casteist words. The family had lodged a missing complaint about the girl on June 14.
According to the complaint given to the police by the victim's family, "Javed from my village works in Mumbai. He would often talk to my daughter and ask her to take her to Mumbai. My daughter refused to do so. On June 14, 2022, Javed made my daughter unconscious by sniffing something and took her to Mumbai in an unconscious state. In Mumbai, he pressured my daughter to convert to Islam. After my daughter refused, she was badly beaten up there.''
In the complaint, the victim further reported, "After this, Javed himself raped my daughter in Mumbai after raping her with Mahmood and Ibrar. Later on June 21, 2022, Javed brought my daughter and dropped her at Karnailganj railway station in Gonda, fearing being caught. During this, Javed gave a casteist abuse to my daughter and said if our name comes up somewhere, it will be bad for you.''
At the end of the complaint, the police were asked to take strict action against the accused. The Parspur police station of Gonda has registered an FIR in connection with the incident on June 30. Javed, Tafazul's son Bahadur, Mahmood and Ibrar have been named as accused in the FIR. According to media reports, SHO Paraspur Inspector Shamsher Bahadur Singh has also confirmed the action.
