Lucknow: Employees working in Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation and other energy corporations and all retired employees will now have to install electricity meters. Without electricity meter, this would be considered theft. All these will have to pay the bill according to the domestic general consumers. Following the instructions of the Electricity Regulatory Commission, the UP Power Corporation has issued orders in this regard.
Employees and pensioners of power corporations are given electricity connections on a fixed charge basis. These were placed in the LMV-10 category and officers and employees were required to pay a fixed fix charge every month, according to their rank. In 2017, the regulatory commission had ordered all such employees and pensioners not to get electricity without meter installation, but it could not be complied with.
On September 3, the Commission issued this year's tariff rates and gave instructions for the second time in this regard. It also said that if it is not complied with within the stipulated time, then action will be taken against the distribution companies. Following the directive of the Commission, orders have been issued to install electricity meters within the stipulated time of over 94 thousand employees of pensioners and pensioners.
