Bareilly: Rajesh, who is trying to change from male to female after gender change, has been accepted by the Railways as a woman. Rajesh aka Sonia has fought for this for 3 years. Chief Factory Manager Izzatnagar has sent a letter to the Department of Personnel saying that Rajesh Pandey should be considered a woman till the final order of the Railway Board comes.

Following this instruction, Rajesh alias Sonia has been changed and the medical card has been changed from male to female. Rajesh Pandey aka Sonia is working as Technical Grade-I in the office of the Chief Factory Manager of the Izatnagar Railway Division of Bareilly. He got a compassionate job on 19 March 2003 after the death of his father and elder brother. He is survived by four sisters and a mother. In 2017, after getting divorced from his wife, Rajesh got his gender changed and after that, he also named his name Sonia Pandey.

Rajesh had appealed to the authorities to record her as a woman in the railway records. When the matter reached GM, he sent it to the board.
