7 killed, 8 injured in two bus collisions in Sambhal

Sambhal: At least seven people were killed and eight others injured when two buses collided on the Agra-Chandausi highway falling under Bahjoi police station area of Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh. Briefing the media about the incident, Superintendent of Police Chakresh Mishra said that the accident took place late on Sunday night near Lahravan village when a bus carrying baratis from marriage was parked on the roadside due to tyre puncture and was hit by another.

Police said, the victims have been identified as Veerpal (60), Happy (35), Chhote (40), Rakesh (30), Abhay (18), Vineet (30) and Bhure (25). All the deceased are said to be residents of Chhapra village in Sambhal district and were returning from a wedding ceremony. The Superintendent of Police said that the injured have been admitted to the hospital while the bodies have been sent for postmortem.

Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over the road accident in Sambhal and directed senior officials to immediately reach the spot and help the victims and provide better treatment to the injured at the earliest.
