Lucknow: The woman working in Lucknow PGI was pressurized by her in-laws to pay her salary. On refusing, the in-laws instigated their son and persuaded him to give triple talaq. After which the husband gave triple talaq to his wife over the phone from Dubai itself. After which the victim has filed a case in PGI Kotwali. 

The woman, a resident of Ektanagar, was married on 7 December 2018 to Arif Baig, a resident of Hussainganj. A few months after the marriage, the husband had gone to Dubai for a job. According to the victim, her in-laws started harassing her as soon as her husband left. Asked to bring dowry from home. On refusal, the pressure was made to pay salary from the job. When she did not listen, she was beaten up. The woman gave this information to her husband several times over the phone. But he always took the side of the family. The frustrated woman went to her maternal home. On reaching back in-law's house on May 30, the father-in-law handed over the divorce documents to her. On objecting, got him to talk to Arif.

It is alleged that during the phone conversation, Arif uttered triple talaq to the victim. The woman was surprised to hear the words of her husband. She tried hard to save the family. When the result was seen, the victim lodged a complaint with the PFI Kotwali. She has alleged that her father-in-law Sagir Ahmed had given her a fatwa for divorce. According to Inspector Devendra Vikram Singh, an investigation is being done by registering a case against Arif, his father Sagir Ahmed, brothers Atif, Shabnam Bano and Niyaz Ahmed under the Protection of Rights on Muslim Women Marriage Act.
