Lucknow: Zika Virus infection is spreading rapidly in Uttar Pradesh's capital Lucknow and infection in two people has been confirmed on Wednesday. According to reports, two patients from Alambagh and LDA colony rushed to Lok Bandhu Hospital for treatment two days ago on suspicion of dengue. After their dengue-malaria report came out negative, a sample was sent to KGMU to check Zika Virus from where the report has come positive. After which the total number of Zika virus cases in Lucknow has gone up to five. The number of Zika virus-infected people in the state has reached 140 so far.

In fact, a man from Azadnagar in Alambagh was suffering from fever last week and family members rushed him to Lok Bandhu Hospital after being suspected of dengue. The dengue test report came out negative here. Doctors then sent a sample of Zika virus to KGMU for a test and Wednesday's report confirmed Zika virus infection. A senior citizen of LDA Colony was also shown in Lok Bandhu after receiving fever and his report has also been positive here.

Talking to reporters after receiving two new cases in the district, Additional Chief Medical Officer Dr KP Tripathi said that samples of nine persons have been sent from the families of the two infected people for testing and others who came in contact with these patients on Thursday will also be tested.
