Dehradun: Countries around the world have been alerted about the new variant of the Covid-19 infection 'Omicron'. India has also made RT-PCR check reports mandatory for passengers coming from countries with 'risk' categories or arriving in India through those countries. Also, the passenger is not going to be allowed to leave the airport until the sample test is reported. They are going to be sent to the isolation centre when they come positive. In spite of being negative, there will be a home quarantine for 7 days and it is mandatory to get tested again on the 8th day.

The WHO was reported to have found an omicron variant of the virus in South Africa on November 24. No case of this variant has been reported in India so far. However, several state governments have declared the monitoring team to be vigilant and have also issued instructions to the district administration to take precautionary measures.
