Dehradun: During the monsoon session of the Assembly in Gairsain, the first supplementary budget for the financial year 2024-25 was approved by voice vote on Friday. The supplementary budget totals ₹5,013.05 crore, with ₹3,756.89 crore allocated for revenue and approximately ₹1,256.16 crore for capital expenses.

Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Premchand Aggarwal highlighted that this budget includes provisions for ₹1,531.65 crore under centrally funded schemes and ₹273.17 crore under externally aided schemes. The three-day session also saw the passage of seven important bills, while two bills were referred to the Select Committee for further review. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami addressed the media, explaining that the supplementary budget is designed to support the poor, youth, women, and farmers in Uttarakhand. He emphasized that the budget aims to incorporate as many central schemes as possible to minimize interest payments.

Dhami noted that the supplementary budget of ₹5,013.05 crore is intended to ensure the effective implementation of the general budget. He expressed optimism about doubling the size of Uttarakhand's economy in the future and stated that schemes with lower interest liabilities, such as those from NABARD, have been prioritized.

On the topic of Gairsain's development, Dhami assured that significant progress is planned for the area. He mentioned that Gairsain, being the summer capital with a large assembly building, will see substantial development. Funds have been allocated for the Gairsain Development Council, and local participation in development projects is being encouraged. Additionally, instructions have been given to expedite the construction of a building for journalists in Gairsain.
