Dehradun: The Election Commission has once again given some relief to political parties and candidates amidst the Coronavirus. The Election Commission has extended the ban on public meetings, rallies, roadshows till January 31. It has also been decided that political parties or leaders will be able to hold their public meetings from 1st February to 12th February. On the other hand, the Election Commission has allowed political parties to campaign in video vehicles in the presence of most of the 500 people in the open.

Amidst the growing coronavirus, the Election Commission has extended the ban on physical rallies, roadshows of all parties, leaders in Uttarakhand till January 31. The Commission has allowed parties and candidates to hold public meetings between February 1 and February 12. These public meetings will have to be held in an open place, mostly 500 or 50 per cent of the capacity of that ground.

The Election Commission has also given relief in door-to-door campaigning. The Election Commission has now allowed door-to-door campaigning with 10 persons instead of 5. As per the guidelines issued by the Election Commission, any political party or candidate can campaign with the help of a video vehicle in any open place. Here also, most of the 500 or 50 per cent of the capacity of that ground will be able to participate.
