Dehradun: After 4 months, political seats are being laid for the assembly elections in Uttarakhand. After Punjab, the Congress has staked its claim to make the Dalit Chief Minister in Uttarakhand also, which has added to the unrest in the BJP as well. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami's breakfast at cabinet minister Yashpal Arya's house also did not work for the BJP. Yashpal Arya, considered a Dalit face in the state on Monday, returned home to the Congress along with his son MLA, which is seen as a major setback for the BJP ahead of the 2022 elections.

Cabinet Minister Yashpal Arya and his son Sanjeev Arya have left the BJP and joined the Congress on Monday. Both the leaders have joined the Congress after meeting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. The two leaders left the Congress in 2017 and joined the BJP, but now the two leaders returned home just before the 2022 elections.

He was the state president of the Congress in Uttarakhand and six-time MLA Yashpal Arya comes from the Dalit community. Yashpal, who has a strong hold on the Dalit politics of the state, has a calm and simple image. Yashpal Arya has a good hold in Kumaon area. There is also a shortage of Dalit faces in the Congress in Uttarakhand. Among the prominent Dalit faces within the Congress are MP Pradeep Tamta and executive president Prof. Jitram. Harish Rawat has staked his claim to merge Yashpal Arya with his camp by playing the Dalit card bet.
