New Delhi: Heavy police force is being deployed at all borders after the Uttarakhand government canceled the Kanwar yatra of the month of Savan. This is the second time that the Kanwar Yatra has been canceled due to the havoc caused by the corona epidemic. The Uttarakhand government's decision came after the state high court stayed the Char Dham Yatra till further orders in compliance with the orders.
Uttarakhand government spokesperson and Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal has said that the state government has decided to cancel the Kanwar yatra which will start in the month of Savan due to the corona epidemic. In this regard, Uttarakhand Police DGP Ashok Kumar said that the government's written order did not come to the police department. There will be no Kanwar Yatra, we are preparing for this possibility. We have seen from which borders people come to the State. Our policy will be stationed there.
If all had been right, this Kanwar Yatra would have started from 25th July, which would have continued till 6th August. The order came after the state high court adjourned the Char Dham Yatra till further orders. The high court had asked the government to file an affidavit in the case on July 7. The state government had approached the Supreme Court against the stay order of the High Court, but the cancellation of the Kanwar Yatra indicates that even the Char Dham Yatra may be clouded by the crisis.
