Nainital: The Nainital High Court, while hearing a PIL filed in the issue of not meeting the standards of stone crushers, has made it clear that licenses of new stone crushers should not be granted until the court orders. Where the court has fixed the date of March 19 for the next hearing.

According to the information received, the court asked the government to select such places in Udham Singh Nagar, Haridwar and Nainital districts where stone crushers can be placed. Additional Chief Secretary Om Prakash appeared in the court in the order of the prior order of the High Court. He told the court that licenses for new stone crushers would not be issued. During the hearing, the High Court also asked how many such stone crushers are currently operating, which do not meet the standards. The case was heard before the bench of Senior Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia and Justice NS Dhanik.

It is also being said that Rudrapur resident Trilok Chandra had filed a PIL in the High Court and said that there are about 300 stone crushers in the state. At the same time, many of them do not meet the standards. The petition said that most of the stone crushers are in populated areas whereas the stone crushers should be three km away from the populated area. The petitioner said that the stone crusher is an industry. They should be established in the industrial area only.
