Dehradun: Uttarakhand Director General of Police Ashok Kumar has given the best New Year gift to the policemen working in the hill districts of Uttarakhand. From 1 January, police personnel working in the hill districts will get a day off. IPS Ashok Kumar has issued instructions to give weekly leave to the policemen appointed in Pauri Garhwal, Tehri, Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Almora, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar and Champawat districts.

Giving information about the Director-General of Police of the state, Ashok Kumar has told that to increase the morale and efficiency of the policemen, the first phase of the police station and outpost/police line in the Janpad Districts from 1 January 2021 to 09 as a test in the first phase. It has been decided to provide the facility of the week off. During the weekly holiday, the policemen will not leave the appointment headquarters and he will be considered on reserve duty. In special circumstances like - in case of disaster, accident and law and order, if the duty is not fulfilled, then the personnel on weekly leave can be called back by the station in-charge.

In the first phase, this system is being started in the hill districts. After that, it is under consideration to implement it in the second phase also in the plains districts. Mahakumbh is also going to be organized in the state along with corona. In such a situation, this system has not been implemented in the plains districts at this time, but after this, it is being considered to add the plains districts in the second phase.
